UPBEAT! PRODUCTIONS is an incorporated not-for-profit musical production company (charitable status pending), established to enable the presentation of superb live music, accessibly and affordably in our community.

Dedicated to building connection through music, UPBEAT! PRODUCTIONS, under the Artistic Direction of Roland Graham, presents audiences in the Nation’s Capital with exciting performers, especially young and emerging artists from Canada and beyond, playing the music that fires their passion, from across the genres, in two series, Concerts by the Canal (CBTC) and the Master Piano Recital Series (MPRS).

Founded in 2018, UPBEAT! PRODUCTIONS, in parallel with presenting an ambitious debut season of eleven concerts (the combined CBTC and MPRS line-ups), is working hard to establish the foundations of a healthy new arts entity that will enrich the cultural fabric of the Ottawa community through inspiring and engaging programs of live musical events.

As a dynamic and growing organization, UPBEAT! PRODUCTIONS welcomes the interest of people seeking to get involved. Whether as an usher, volunteer member of the production team, or in leadership as a potential board member, let us know how you want to be involved.

UPBEAT! PRODUCTIONS thanks you for visiting its site and for helping to spread the word.

Musician, Educator and Producer/Presenter Roland Graham is the driving force behind Ottawa’s UPBEAT! PRODUCTIONS.

He has been heard as a pianist on CBC Radio 2, and performed with leading musicians and ensembles in Ottawa and beyond. He is the founding Artistic Director of Rideau Chorale and Music Director of Southminster United Church, where in 2013, he founded the church’s popular Doors Open for Music at Southminster (DOMS) weekly Wednesday noon-hour concert series.

Roland founded the Master Piano Recital Series, also in 2013, and Concerts by the Canal in 2016.

Roland studied piano performance with Jean Desmarais at the University of Ottawa, and with Marc Durand and Jimmy Brière at the Université de Montréal as a SSHRCC research grant recipient.

Roland also composes, plays harpsichord and organ, conducts and teaches piano.

Southminster United Church, on the bank of Ottawa’s Rideau Canal, hosts a thriving musical program that includes, in addition to UPBEAT’s programing, the DOMS weekly Wednesday noon-hour concert series, and frequent presentations by noteworthy artists and ensembles from Ottawa and across Canada.

The church’s fine acoustics, 500-capacity seating, easy accessibility, and the presence of an excellent 9’ concert grand piano, make it a perfect venue for presenting live music to the community of Ottawa.

The building is wheelchair accessible and serviced by OCTranspo routes 6 and 7. Parking in the church’s lot is very limited; street parking is available on many streets in the surrounding neighborhood.
